The student wellness programs at Alice L. Walton School of Medicine are designed to support students' physical, mental, and emotional health.
Mental Health Services
AWSOM partners with a local mental health counseling center to provide students with accessible, professional mental health support. Services include:
Counseling sessions with licensed therapists
Access to psychiatric nurse practitioners
All services are private and confidential.
Physical Wellness
AWSOM has negotiated with local healthcare providers to prioritize the care of medical students at two primary care clinics:
Mercy Clinic Primary Care (Bella Vista)
Mercy Clinic Primary Care (Centerton)
Students are required to have health insurance and may also seek care through the provider network.
Wellness Workshops and Events
Throughout the academic year, various student wellness workshops and events are provided on:
Nutrition
Resilience
Self-care strategies
Fitness and wellness classes can be organized based on student demand and may include:
Yoga
Weight training
Guided meditation
Taking advantage of the local trail systems
A fitness room and student wellness center studio are located on-site.
Financial Wellness
The Financial Aid Office provides financial wellness programs, tools, and resources to help students manage their finances effectively and reduce financial stress.
Budgeting and Financial Planning Workshops:
The Director of Financial Assistance provides workshops on budgeting for school and personal expenses.
Student Loan Counseling:
The Director of Financial Assistance provides personalized advice on managing and repaying student loans.
