Safety Tips
Campus Security will provide regular safety and crime prevention workshops for AWSOM students, faculty, and staff. For inquiries or more information, please contact CampusSecurity@aweoffice.org.
- Trust Your Instincts – If something feels off, don’t second-guess yourself. Remove yourself from the situation and seek help if needed.
- Have Campus Safety Contacts Saved – Program the campus security number into your phone for quick access.
- Know Your Building – Get to know your building, including emergency exits and safety protocols.
- Keep Badge Access Areas Closed – Never leave doors opened or unlocked, and please do not hold the door open for un-badged persons behind you.
- Avoid Sharing Personal Details Online – Keep your social media accounts private and limit information that could reveal your location.
- Be Road Aware – Whether you are biking, walking, or driving to campus, please be aware of other motorists, cyclists, or pedestrians around you. Following proper traffic laws will help keep all of us safe.
- Report Suspicious Behavior – If you see something concerning, notify Campus Security immediately.
Clery Act Compliance
Art and Wellness Enterprises and AWSOM are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for the campus community. To ensure current and prospective students, employees, and families have access to information about the campus, its security procedures and preventative programming, we have developed the following resources, in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act.
The Clery Act Overview
The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (The Clery Act) mandates that institutions of higher education receiving federal funding must collect and report statistical data of certain criminal offenses, as well as information on security policies, support for victims, and prevention and awareness programs.
Campus Security Authorities
Campus Security Authorities (CSAs) play a crucial role in supporting our commitment to safety by serving as designated reporters under the Clery Act. Their responsibility is to ensure that Clery-reportable crimes incidents are properly and promptly documented and reported to the appropriate officials.
CSA Crime Reporting Form
To support our efforts in proper documentation, the CSA Reporting Form should be used by designated CSAs. If you have not been designated as a CSA, but would like to report an incident, please see “Report a Crime”.
Annual Security Report
In an effort to maintain transparency, and in compliance with The Clery Act, AWSOM will publish an Annual Security Report (ASR), which includes crime statistics, safety measures, and policy updates. The ASR shall be available in October 2026.
Clery Act Daily Crime Log
The Daily Crime Log offers a daily report of all criminal incidents that are reported to the Campus Security team. It can be accessed by calling 479-418-5777 during regular business hours.
