Admissions Process
Application Review
At AWSOM, we recognize that you are more than just numbers on a page. We carefully consider your full story: your academic achievements, life experiences, passions, and the personal qualities that will shape the kind of physician you’ll become. Our aim is to admit students who will not only excel in medicine but also share our commitment to AWSOM's mission and values: innovation, compassion, and community impact.
Alignment with Mission, Values, and Learning Environment
We’re considering more than just grades and MCAT scores. The experiences you have serving the community, leading a team or project, working in a clinical setting, practicing whole health principles, and/or conducting research help us understand how you align with AWSOM’s mission, values, and learning environment. Applicants who are most successful in our process demonstrate empathy, self-care, humanism, an entrepreneurial spirit, collaboration, and a community focus. If your journey has been nontraditional, we want to hear about it, too. Every path adds to the AWSOM community.
Step 1
Primary applications are received through the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS) sponsored by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC).
Applicants are encouraged to submit material in advance of assigned deadlines for best consideration.
Step 2
Applicants who meet minimum admissions requirements will receive emailed instructions to complete the electronic secondary application.
A nonrefundable $100 application fee will be required upon submission.
Step 3
AWSOM will complete a comprehensive review of application materials to identify individuals who most strongly align with AWSOM's mission, values, and learning environment. Selected applicants will be invited to register for a virtual interview day.
Step 4
Admission will be offered on a rolling basis until the class of 48 is full. All decisions will be communicated via email and updated in the AWSOM admissions portal.
