Helen Ryals, MD, PhD serves as Assistant Professor, Anatomy at Alice L. Walton School of Medicine.

Helen Ryals, PhD, serves as Assistant Professor, Anatomy at Alice L. Walton School of Medicine. In this role, she designs and delivers the School’s Anatomy curriculum. Prior to joining the School, Dr. Ryals was a Junior Professor and Instructor of Human Structure and Gross Anatomy for the College of Medicine and Adjunct Professor of Human Anatomy and Laboratory Coordinator for the PA/CRNA Nursing Courses at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. At UAMS, she also served as Faculty in the Department of Neurobiology and Developmental Science. Dr. Ryals received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry at UAMS of Fayetteville, attended medical school and received her PhD in neurobiology and developmental science at UAMS of Little Rock. Dr. Ryals is a member of the American Association for Anatomy, American Association of Clinical Anatomists, and the International Association of Medical Science Educators.
